Rain is falling outside the window of my apartment in Rijeka. The clouds are grey and heavy with the dew. As I write this I am reminded of home and how on days like this I would sit on the couch with a good book and have a bowl of soup. I love the thought of home and the feeling of safety that is there, the familiarity of it and the love that is shared by those who live there.
Yet just as softly as the rain falls on the window panes God speaks quietly to my soul and reminds me that I am not home, no matter where I am, until the great coming of my Lord and the day that I worship Him in Heaven. For my home is with God in heaven. I can not wait for that day when I will be Home!!
More than just home, I think about God each time it rains and who He is in my life. I am in awe of the nature he has created and allowed me to enjoy. Some of the greatest things to do when it rains is run outside, splash in puddles or play basketball or soccer in the rain with friends. Then coming inside soaking wet and getting warm by drinking hot chocolate!
Besides all that I always think of songs, as I love to sing, and there is a song that has a line in it that says, "Grace like rain falls down on me...All my stains are washed away..." I just love that! It reminds me that God has washed over me like the rain is doing right now over the city. As each drop falls dirt and grime are washed away and once the storm passes the air is clear and everything is cleaner. So too is the rain the falls on me by God's grace, but the rain is Christ's blood poured out as an offering for me; cleansing me from all my sins and stains forever!! Praise the Lord for his Grace!!
